About
Established in 1977, the GOG Awards were created to highlight the continued excellence and innovation of our member public art galleries, art museums, artist-run-centres, and arts organizations. Now in its 47th edition, the GOG Awards is the most established and time-honoured awards program of any arts organization, and is one of our sector’s most important and signature events. The GOG Awards acknowledges both institutions and individuals, recognizing artistic merit, excellence, and outstanding achievement in Exhibitions, Programming, Writing, and Colleague Awards.
The GOG Awards were made to highlight the continued excellence, innovation, and importance of the public art galleries, art museums, art centres, and art organizations. Public art galleries and art museums are an integral part of Canada’s visual arts sector and hold a key role in Canada’s economy; every year 99% of Canadians participate in the arts, culture, and heritage in some way. Now more than ever, our cultural sector needs to be celebrated and honoured.
The GOG Awards are instrumental in educating the public about the importance of Ontario’s public art galleries as essential cultural resources and institutions. The event is open to the public and is advertised online to key stakeholders of the visual arts sectors such as curators, directors, art collectors, government officials, funders, and established cultural workers. These awards are a major benefit of membership as they play a vital role in peer recognition, help raise the profile of the public art gallery sector and are highly prized by recipients.

Galeries Ontario / Ontario Galleries (GOG) is proud to announce the winners of the 2024 GOG Awards! This year marked the 47th edition of the awards, which recognize outstanding achievement, artistic merit, and excellence across Ontario’s public art gallery sector.
